A divine musical comedy and a Disney family favourite will light up Stanley Park\u2019s iconic Malkin Bowl stage

Vancouver, BC \u2013 <\/b>TUTS presents a summer season of fabulous and fantastical musical hits with the premiere of <\/span>Sister Act<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Disney\u2019s The Little Mermaid<\/span><\/i>, on stage July 3 to August 22, 2026, under the stars at Stanley Park\u2019s magical Malkin Bowl. A Vancouver tradition since 1940, TUTS\u2019 <\/span>early bird tickets are on sale now through June 20<\/b>.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are delighted to welcome audiences into the immersive and awe-inspiring worlds of two daring heroines this summer season,\u201d says Kevin Woo, TUTS General Manager. \u201cFrom the nightclub to the nunnery, <\/span>Sister Act\u2019s <\/span><\/i>Deloris forges a powerful bond with an unlikely sisterhood, unlocking her true potential as an aspiring singer. And from an underwater grotto to a royal palace, Ariel in <\/span>Disney\u2019s The Little Mermaid<\/span><\/i> must learn to trust in the strength of her inner voice to claim the life she has always longed for. Together, this year\u2019s season invites audiences on a journey of connection, discovery, and the courage it takes to chase your dreams<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Based on the 1992 hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, <\/span>Sister Act <\/span><\/i>made its musical debut in London\u2019s West End in 2009 and on Broadway in 2011. The Broadway production received multiple Tony Award nominations, including for Best Musical. <\/span>Sister Act<\/span><\/i> has since toured the world, across the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia, and recently received a highly anticipated West End revival in 2024. Full of larger-than-life disco numbers and soulful ballads, the heartfelt and hilarious musical comedy has been lauded as a \u201cfeel-good crowd-pleaser worth celebrating\u201d (<\/span>New York Daily News<\/span><\/i>).<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The story follows aspiring disco diva Deloris Van Cartier who is rushed into witness protection at a nearby convent, after she stumbles upon a shooting involving her gangster boyfriend. Under the guise of her new persona as Sister Mary Clarence, Deloris is tasked with taking over the flailing choir. Her fierce energy and undeniable talent helps turn the choir into a regional sensation\u2013encouraging her sisters to find their inner light, and ultimately rediscovering her own spark in the process.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Sister Act <\/span><\/i>will be directed and choreographed by <\/span>Peter Jorgensen<\/b>, who returns in 2026 after directing TUTS\u2019 <\/span>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory<\/span><\/i> and starring as Professor Callahan in <\/span>Legally Blonde The Musical<\/span><\/i>. <\/span>Sean Bayntun<\/b> will return for the fourth year in a row as a TUTS Music Director, following his work on <\/span>The Prom<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>CATS, <\/span><\/i>and <\/span>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory<\/span><\/i>. <\/span>Hanna Mack<\/b> (<\/span>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory<\/span><\/i>) is Assistant to the Director\/Choreographer, <\/span>Jason Sakaki <\/b>is the 2026 Directing Fellow, and <\/span>Marizza Mislang<\/b> is the 2026 Music Directing Fellow.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Sister Act<\/span><\/i> features the TUTS debut of local performers, including <\/span>Kat Reynolds<\/b> as Deloris, <\/span>Angela Donahue<\/b> as Mother Superior, <\/span>Andrew J. Hampton<\/b> as Eddie Souther, <\/span>Rodrigo PoMe<\/b> as Pablo, and <\/span>Bea Martin<\/b> as Sister Mary Theresa, and <\/span>Jacob Sirois<\/b> as TJ. TUTS will welcome returning alumni: <\/span>Alyson Vance<\/b> as Sister Mary Robert, <\/span>Suzanne Jabour<\/b> as Sister Mary Lazarus, <\/span>Amanda Louren\u00e7o <\/b>as Sister Mary Patrick, <\/span>Sam Hall <\/b>as Monsignor O\u2019Hara, <\/span>David Johnston<\/b> as Curtis, and <\/span>Matthew Valinho<\/b> as Joey. Based on the classic animated film, <\/span>Disney\u2019s The Little Mermaid<\/i><\/b> brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage. The film-turned-musical debuted on Broadway in 2008, and has since toured internationally, in the US, Canada, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, and across Europe. With visually stunning set design and bursting with family-friendly entertainment, <\/span>OnStage Blog<\/span><\/i> hailed the production as \u201cmagically charming in just about all the right places.\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The beloved tale follows Ariel, a curious, young mermaid who dreams of a world above the sea. <\/span>After saving the life of Prince Eric following a disastrous shipwreck, Ariel strikes a dangerous bargain with the conniving sea witch, Ursula, exchanging her voice for a chance to be human. With the support of her loyal sea friends\u2013Flounder, Sebastian, and Scuttle\u2013Ariel sets out to win Eric\u2019s heart and break the curse with a true love\u2019s kiss before it\u2019s too late.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Disney\u2019s The Little Mermaid <\/span><\/i>will be directed and choreographed by <\/span>Nicol Spinola<\/b>, who returns to TUTS after choreographing TUTS productions of <\/span>Something Rotten!, Mary Poppins<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>Cinderella<\/span><\/i>, as well as performing in <\/span>Annie Get Your Gun<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Annie<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>Hairspray!<\/span><\/i> Spinola will be joined by Music Director <\/span>Brent Hughes<\/b>, who has previously music directed <\/span>Cinderella<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Something Rotten!<\/span><\/i>. <\/span>Julia MacLean<\/b> (<\/span>Newsies<\/span><\/i>) is Associate Choreographer and <\/span>Nicole Laurent <\/b>is the 2026 Choreography Fellow.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Playing the lead role of Ariel is <\/span>Madison Simms<\/b>, who was last seen on the TUTS stage in 2025\u2019s <\/span>Legally Blonde The Musical<\/span><\/i>. \nTUTS will partner with the <\/span>Canucks Autism Network<\/span><\/a> to host a relaxed performance for each production. A relaxed performance is a show adapted to suit people who might require a more relaxed environment when going to the theatre, including (but not limited to) individuals who are on the autism spectrum or have sensory processing differences.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Pride Night<\/b> \u2013 July 29

\nTUTS will partner with <\/span>PAL Vancouver<\/span><\/a> to collect donations at a performance for each production. Co-founded in 2001, PAL Vancouver provides affordable housing to longstanding members of Metro Vancouver\u2019s performing arts community.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

TUTS will partner with<\/span> VocalEye<\/span><\/a> to provide a live description experience (date to be confirmed). VocalEye performances benefit people who are blind, partially sighted or visually impaired.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
