Media Relations Case Study: The Virtual Stage – ‘On Death’s Door: Plague of the Zombie Syndrome’
The Client
Founded in 2000, The Virtual Stage is a Vancouver-based theatre company with a unique mandate to investigate emerging technologies in live performance. In its 14-year history, the company has produced three short films, four short plays, and 11 mainstage productions; they have toured North America and garnered 29 Jessie and Ovation Award nominations, winning seven in total to date.
The Campaign
Laura Murray Public Relations was hired to secure high-levels of media coverage for the interactive, undead theatre adventure On Death’s Door: Plague of the Zombie Syndrome in television, radio, print, and online publications. Activities included writing & distributing a press release, crafting, sending & uploading event listings, pitching local journalists, coordinating interviews & reviews, and holding a media event prior to the public opening.
