Case Study: ITSAZOO Presents Killer Joe
The Client
ITSAZOO Productions specializes in fun, affordable, and accessible theatre presented at site-specific and non-traditional venues. The youthful company presented the grisly, pitch-black comedy, Killer Joe penned by Pulitzer Prize winning writer Tracey Letts.
The ambitious piece transformed the Italian Cultural Centre parking lot from April 15 to May 4 into an immersive theatre experience, recreating a Texas trailer park.
The Campaign
Laura Murray Public Relations were hired to provide a media relations campaign that would secure high-levels of editorial coverage and public awareness for the run of the show. The broad range of activities included composing & distributing a press release, pitching local journalists to write features & reviews, coordinating interviews, and being on-hand to coordinate a media tour prior to opening.
The Results
Killer Joe received a slew of media attention and the production sold out its entire run.
The extremely successful campaign included interviews, articles, previews, contests, and reviews in major outlets including: The Globe & Mail, Vancouver Sun, Georgia Straight, The Province, Vancouver Courier, North Shore News, Metro Vancouver, Novus Television, Vancouver Presents, View The Vibe, Vancity Buzz, Inside Vancouver, and Review Vancouver, among many others.
